50+ and CF
In 2017, 100 people were 50 years of age or older. Of this group, 86 people had a confirmed CF diagnosis.
Half of the 50+ group is between 50 and 54 years old, as shown in Figure 1 below. The mutation F508del is much less common among people with CF over the age of 50 (Figure 2). This is because F508del is a more severe mutation with a lower life expectancy than the milder mutations these people usually have.
