Reduced life expectancy for CF


The age at which people with CF die is going up, as life expectancy is improving. In 2009, half of the people who died were over 30; in 2017, half of the people who died were already
over 47.

CF is a life-limiting illness, and approximately 10-20 people die each year.
In recent years, less than 15 people died each year, and in 2017, there were
9 deaths. The age at the time of death fluctuates, mainly due to the relatively low number of people who die each year, but over time, the age does go up (Figure 1).
